Custom Cars & Coffee_Motorplex Western Australia

A little gearbox issue hampered our morning cruising in the ØG356 but riding shotgun in a mate's HK Monaro more than made up for it!

We headed down together in a small group this time to enjoy the meet at the Motorplex and it was a great morning with the usual suspects.

Thanks again to Jase & Crew of Custom Cars & Coffee.

Benzenes Open Day & Fundraiser

Benzenes Detailing is one of Perth’s premium car detailers and we were invited to 98’s Open Day and Fundraiser for the Cancer Foundation.

The shop was given a resent make-over and was completed to an exceptionally high standard which included a mezzanine to maximise floor space.

A cross section of cars were on display and it was a casual and fun morning with great coffee and alot of laughs(*which really are insults between friends).

The ‘LSG’ ute was chosen to take the silverware on the day but most of the cars there were all very close contenders..

More than $2200 was raised for the Cancer Foundation due to the generosity and good will of all that were present.

Thank you to 98 and Angela for being such gracious hosts and for everyone involved as well xo

RAUH-Welt Begriff. Perth, Australia

RAUH-Welt Begriff…synonymous with outlandishly styled 911’s created from the imagination of Porsche tuner Akira Nakai from Japan.

For those wondering, RAUH-Welt translates to “Rough World” and each 911 kit is a personal expression of Akira Nakai. He will also personally fit and transform each project.

Love them or hate them…they cannot be ignored and we were lucky enough to see 2 prime examples built right here in Perth by KTEC and RWB.

The night began with the 2 fresh builds arriving in convoy at the iconic Grand Cygnet Cinema in Como for the movie premier of “RAUH-Welt. From Life After Birth to 12 Hours of Racing”.

Simply put…the movie was amazing featuring the journey of Australia’s first RWB named ‘So-Cro’(Southern Cross) owned by Chern.

The high production value and the cinematography was sublime and perfectly executed and it was a privilege to be amongst fellow car nuts in an art-deco movie theater.

The night ended with great conversations, parma & pints and an Audi on launch control;)

W.A Hotrod & Street Machine Spectacular 2018

The W.A Hot Rod & Street Machine Spectacular is done and dusted for another year..

The weather gods decided to play nice and the west oz sun was out for the w’end which was a nice break from the rain. We gassed up the 356 and pulled it out from hibernation to check out the show and catch up with the usual riffraff….

Mooneyes Dragster Australian Tour were there along with "Master Peace”, Kengo Kimura’s ’66 Triumph. A rolling piece of sculpture that was simply sublime.

There were more custom bikes this year which was great to see and the revolving outdoor car show was also on fire this year..Enjoy the pics!

Stamford Hall, England

A few of us recently popped over to England for a short break to catch the Stanford Hall VW Show.

Well, well, well...the sun sometimes does shine in England and didn’t we get a lovely tan on our fantastic day out. Hotdogs, ice-creams and laughs were all readily consumed here!

An amazing collection of air-cooled cars along with a very nice mix of water-cooled classics were present. The circle of early Beetles in front of the Hall, the collection of Porsche 912’s and 356’s, the club areas, the rows and rows of Buses, the classic Golf’s were a sight to behold and did we mention the ice-cream?

We think we might have gotten pre- approval from the Minister of Finance at home to start looking for a MK1 Golf due to the amazing ones on show, so that could be a fun addition to the garage.

Car of the show was definitely the black patina 356, not only because of the overall aesthetics but also because it was clearly a car enjoyed by the family. A car like this which is used to take a family of 4 camping becomes more than an inanimant object and has soul. Also worth a mention was the great turn out of Splitwindow Beetles in all styles from ex-military to fully restored examples.
