V8 Supercars, Perth

Round 5 for the V8 Supercars/Perth Super Sprints was on and Kimbo, 98 and I headed to the track for a day packed with fun and excitement.

There were also other categories of racing that were equally impressive which included the Super 2 Series, Super Trucks, Formula Ford and the Hotwheels Team providing entertainment as well. We also got to walk around the pit area and take a glimpse behind the scene.

The Shell Ford piloted by McLaughlin took the win with Winterbottom(Ford) in second followed by team Red Bull Holden driven by Gisbergen. Nissan came in at the 14th driven by Rick Kelly(Castrol Racing)

A big thank you to Kim Belcastro for organising a truly memorable day and for Johnny Ielati for the uber.

Custom Cars & Coffee, April 2018

CCC was back bigger than ever!

This time it was at the ‘dome for us NOR with a vast variety of cars to gawk at for the motor enthusiasts.

Fantastic crowd, fantastic weather, fantastic day....

Thanks to Jase and team for all their hard work that the rest of us get to enjoy.

Airwerks 2018

As we prepare for the unbearable heat of the coming summer we joined in the cruise organised by Airwerks.

The foggy mornings are a tell-tale indication of the changing of seasons here as we enjoyed a coffee at Airwerks Cycles before cruising to Box Park and MYOCUM for breakfast. There is nothing like driving through Dubai in classic air-cooled machines.

It was nice to not be the only car with its top down as a beautiful convertible Beetle had arrived along with a convertible Golf.  A couple of VW Baja's were also on the drive with our favorite being the orange buggy purely for its simplicity and wearing the clean tinter orange.

The bus crew were out in force again, these guys live for the drive. A nice selection of Porsche’s also arrived at the drive ranging from a 356B T6 through to a stunning Pearl White 993 Turbo.

A great day again with friends...not many of these left before summer is here.

Octane Nation

In a warehouse deep in Al Quoz, Octane Nation stamped its arrival with its premier show in Dubai.

These industrial areas are the perfect location and thanks to the sponsorship from Carculture we were able to display some Øutlaw garage gear.

We arrived early Friday morning to get setup and we were given the keys to a Morgan Aero 8 and marked a 'figure 8' on the warehouse floor! This put a smile on our face for the rest of the day.

The shows are a little different in Dubai than in Australia and other show we have attended. Cars generally rotate throughout an event where people arrive, kick around for a while then leave and other cars arrive to fill the space.  It’s makes for an ever changing show with the beginning and the end drastically different.

A fantastic array of cars at the show, with the 964 Turbo being our favourite!

A big thanks to Tom, Daniel and Fred for the day.

2018 Dub Drive

2018 was by far the biggest event for the 'Dub Drive' with over 250 cars from across the region including Oman, KSA and Bahrain.

Nestled among all the water-cooled VW’s was Len’s ’52 Split Window Beetle in its fresh ‘Azure Blue’ that is currently undergoing a full restoration. A few early split buses also made an appearance.

The show included a cruise through Dubai under police escort to the Autodrome which is amazing (We have footage on our FB and Instagram page). The aircooled crew set off last but took a little short cut to jump to the front half way through the drive. The vintage VW’s were a stark contrast against the modern Dubai skyscrapers and was a snap shot between the past and present.

Music filled the autodrome along with the sound of cars hard on the rev. limiters! The final drivers event for the day is a parade and some gentlemanly racing on the circuit.

A big thank you to Volkswagen for organizing such a great event.
