Stamford Hall, England

A few of us recently popped over to England for a short break to catch the Stanford Hall VW Show.

Well, well, well...the sun sometimes does shine in England and didn’t we get a lovely tan on our fantastic day out. Hotdogs, ice-creams and laughs were all readily consumed here!

An amazing collection of air-cooled cars along with a very nice mix of water-cooled classics were present. The circle of early Beetles in front of the Hall, the collection of Porsche 912’s and 356’s, the club areas, the rows and rows of Buses, the classic Golf’s were a sight to behold and did we mention the ice-cream?

We think we might have gotten pre- approval from the Minister of Finance at home to start looking for a MK1 Golf due to the amazing ones on show, so that could be a fun addition to the garage.

Car of the show was definitely the black patina 356, not only because of the overall aesthetics but also because it was clearly a car enjoyed by the family. A car like this which is used to take a family of 4 camping becomes more than an inanimant object and has soul. Also worth a mention was the great turn out of Splitwindow Beetles in all styles from ex-military to fully restored examples.
