Dubai Motor Show

The Dubai International Motor Show combines manufactures from around the world with cars and trucks specifically designed for the region.

These machines are a sight to behold with a great range from concept vehicles and UAE built cars through to some truly spectacular super cars.

Picks of the show would either be the Porsche Turbo Exclusive Edition, with only 500 made and all sold within days of release, to the gold Lamborghini and the Brabus Gullwing Mercedes. Simply stunning automotive art.

The Last Exit

As the heat of this summer finally starts to depart, it makes way for the season of car shows and events.

The first show to kick off the season was meet at The Last Exit, Al Khawaneej, a well known hangout for car buffs with a delicious selection of food available from the local vendors.

With a wide array of vehicles there were a few stand outs for us which included a 240Z’s and a tough as nails 'cuda. A De Lorean is always a crowd puller, especially one that hasn’t been turned into a 'Back to the Future' replica.  Renowned for its reputation of unreliability, lack of power and a checkered history with the tax department all seemed to add up to make this car somewhat cool! (not your standard equation outcome)

Only a small gathering of aircooled machines so we are going to have to do better next time. Enjoy!

All Ford Day, Western Australia

Steel Blue Oval, Perth, was the place to be if you were a die hard Ford Fan.

Henry Ford’s best was on display from restored T’s to the latest Falcon and everything in between! Clear sky’s and a chilled atmosphere made it a fantastic Sunday morning(we even bumped into '98' representing øg).

Enjoy the pics!

The Porsche Club, Yas Marina Circuit

The Porsche Club organised a meet at the Yas Marina Circuit, the final circuit for F1 championship, for members to do some track work and to push their cars in a safe and controlled environment.

The first session was to learn the track and follow the racing line set by the new GT3RS pace car. Our group comprised of a Targa S, a Cayman Black Edition and 2 Carrera’s. The sequence was to learn the track and the race line whilst increasing the pace as we go. After each lap we would rotate position behind the pace car so everyone had the opportunity to follow the correct line and “chase” the GT3RS.

Due to sheer excitement for the day we arrived a little early and subsequently were the first inline to follow the pace car. It is clearly visible to see the scale difference between our 1978 SC against the much larger(and more powerful) 2017 GT3RS. Considering the age difference we managed to somewhat keep up with the RS and by the second session we had warmed up and were more confident.

A quick check of the oil temp. and oil pressure and all was good although we couldn't say the same for our new set of tyres! The GT3RS was now also warmed up and it was now clearly evident that we were behind something very special as the distance between us grew and our tyre screeching become alot louder.

Braking later than the GT3RS into the corners and then accelerating hard the SC gave it everything it had. Hitting the apex, rumbling over corners, brakes fading and tyres squealing, we were on the edge. As the GT3RS hugged the racing line while we swung from one side of the track to the other to try and maintain some pace and grip.  For that one lap she was the Queen of the track.

Our little SC had driven in the lines of champions and legendary drivers and cars and we were so proud of her but it was time to retire from the track and enjoy a cold beer.

Thank you to the Porsche Club UAE for organising such an amazing event and the only repair required after the event was to the passenger door handle;)

Classic Cars & Coffee, Nedlands, W.A

One of the best things about Classic Cars & Coffee is the rare and exotic European vintage and classic cars that make an appearance!

To get up close and see these works of rolling art really excites ones senses if you’re an automotive fan. The picturesque UWA campus adds to the atmosphere and so do all that attend!

Thank you to Deryck and team for the warm welcome and for organising it all once again!
