Nürburgring. A name synonymous with motorsport and petrol heads alike!
Located in the town of Nürburg Germany, the race circuit built in the 1920’s and featuring the Grand Prix race track built in 1984 is the stuff of legend.
Bags packed with the essentials, we set off from Paris to Brussels by rail followed by a stunning drive through Belgium and Holland to Germany as our final destination, where we were to ride shotgun in the Ring Taxi, the 911 GT3 RS!
The GT3 RS Porsche is form and function at its finest and the sound is all encompassing. Our driver Theo Kleen was excellent...cool and calm and knew the track like the back of his hand with very quick lap times, we passed cars like they were stood still
Two things really stuck in our minds after the lap:
1): If Theo Kleen was 100% focused and racing to win, just how fast could he actually go around the track??
2): How on earth did they ever race F1 here?! It's just a mind boggling thought.
A big shout out to Ring Taxi for the amazing experience and also a thank you to Racer’s Retreat for the fantastic accommodation and beer tips.
We’d also like to say well done to James Collins and his mates who drove their Golf all the way over from England (a 437bhp machine) and clocked a 8:25 BTG. Great drive and car, sweats power and maybe 'a little' oil.
