The Ninth Degree car club focus on supercars and classics, prestigious events and the upper echelon of luxury automobiles.
We were invited to one of the clubs events at the Yas Marina Circuit and this was one that we were not going to turn down.
The event commenced at the Number Three show room which housed a lovely 930 Turbo..just what we like. As all the cars gathered for the day it was clear we were going to be hard pressed to keep up. Lamborghini's, Aston Martin's, McLaren's, Lotus and a number of GT3’s and GT3 RS’s rolled in and our little 911SC was in great company and it was going to have a fun day.
As we set off the group quickly split into two, the second group had a gentle cruise to Yas, the first group however probably have lighter wallets after the trip.
Once we arrived at Yas we had another chance to take a look at the cars and also wander through the pits to view the cars competing in the Gulf 12hrs race and the Heritage F1 race. It’s always great to get in the pits and see all of the action close up. Unveiled during the day was the Lambda Performance Ford GT GT3 and a very special 1 of 1 model covered in gold fittings and diamond additions. These cars from Lambda only require 2.5secs to get from 0kph to 100kph powered by a 5.3L Supercharged V8.
We were meant to be heading on track with our 911 but after a long day and the sun setting we decided to wait for another day and just a few upgrades before heading out again. A special note needs to go to the Porsche Carrera GT owned by Fawaz. A remarkable car and clearly cherished by the owner. We cruised over to Abu Dhabi together which was fantastic and he was very gracious and accomodating in letting kids sit in the car and take photos. A true gentleman in the car scene!
